Mr. Captor is a powerful capture solution that captures anything you
see on the computer desktop!
It also can capture video game screenshots if the video game is working
in the DirectX / Direct3D video mode.
The problem commonly arises when the user tries to capture a screen shot
on Windows 9x platform.
In this case the result is a black or empty region.
There are no such problems for Windows NT/2000/XP (NT-like systems).
Why?
The point is that on NT-like platforms the system controls all the output on the screen.
It doesn't take place on Windows 9x systems.
The DirectX / Direct3D output on these platforms bypasses the standard
Windows output subsystem and works with the display directly.
Such architecture provides a faster drawing and it is the legacy of the old
DOS operating system.
Note, these problems arises when you are trying to capture a game that
works in a full screen mode. Commonly there are no capture problems in a windowed mode.
Mr. Captor provides an advanced technology for capture of the DirectX / Direct3D output. It also can capture DVD and Windows Media Player screens, because of both DVD and Media players use the DirectX (DirectDraw) interface to paint frames on the screen.
Simply check the "DirectX" option at the Preferences | Main page.
When the check box is checked the <Capture Frame> and
<Capture Screen> keys capture the DirectX output if exists.
With Mr. Captor, you can also capture Direct3D games that use DirectX 8 or DirectX 9 technologies.
