How to ...




Capture the Rectangular Region

  1. Click Capture Region button on the Capture Bar or click the Capture | Region menu command or press the <Capture Region> hotkey (default hotkey is Ctrl+Shift+R).
  2. Move the mouse pointer to any corner of the desired rectangle.
  3. Depress the left mouse button and drag the mouse to select the rectangular region.
  4. Release the left mouse button to finish selection.
  5. Click the right mouse button to invoke the context menu and choose Grab now item (<Return> key) to grab the selected image or Cancel item (<Esc> key) to cancel operation.

Capture the Elliptical Region

  1. Click Capture Region button on the Capture Bar or click the Capture | Region menu command or press the <Capture Region> hotkey (default hotkey is Ctrl+Shift+R).
  2. Check the Elliptical region mode in the context menu (to invoke it click the right mouse button).
  3. Move the mouse pointer to any corner of the desired rectangle.
  4. Depress the left mouse button and drag the mouse to select the elliptical region.
  5. Release the left mouse button to finish selection.
  6. Click the right mouse button to invoke the context menu and choose Grab now item (<Return> key) to grab the selected image or Cancel item (<Esc> key) to cancel operation.

Capture the Freehand Region

  1. Click Capture Region button on the Capture Bar or click the Capture | Region menu command or press the <Capture Region> hotkey (default hotkey is Ctrl+Shift+R).
  2. Check the Freehand region mode in the context menu (to invoke it click the right mouse button).
  3. Move the mouse pointer to the start point.
  4. Depress the left mouse button and draw the freehand region.
  5. Release the left mouse button to finish drawing.
  6. Click the right mouse button to invoke the context menu and choose Grab now item (<Return> key) to grab the selected image or Cancel item (<Esc> key) to cancel operation.

Capture the Region of Fixed-Size

  1. Click Fixed Region button on the Capture Bar or click the Capture | Fixed Region or press the <Capture Fixed Region> hotkey (default hotkey is Ctrl+Shift+X).
  2. Depress the left mouse button inside the frame, move and place it over a region to capture.
  3. Click the right mouse button to invoke the context menu and choose Grab now item (<Return> key) to grab the selected image or Cancel item (<Esc> key) to cancel operation.

Capture from Media Player or DVD.

  1. Run Mr. Captor.
  2. Make sure the DirectX method is selected.
  3. Run the DVD/Media Player).
  4. Use commands/hotkeys <Capture Screen>/<Capture Frame> for method 1.
    Use a common screen capture procedure for method 2.

That's all.

Note: You need to run Mr. Captor before you run DVD/Media Player/Game.

Cropping of one-color background

To crop an image located on one-color background, select a rectangle that's a little larger than an image and execute the Crop background context menu command. The alternative approach is to press and keep the <Alt> key when the left mouse button is released.
The color to crop is determined on the basis of rectangle corners.

Magnification

User can use a special lens to magnify the region and perform an accurate capture. To display the lens select the Show Lens context menu item.
User can move the lens, change its size and enlargement ratio. To set a new ratio use the Options... context menu command.

Capture of Windows

  1. Click Capture Windows button on the Capture Bar or click the Capture | Windows menu item or press the <Capture Window> hotkey (default is Ctrl+Shift+W).
  2. Move mouse. Window located under cursor will be framed.
  3. Click the left mouse button to grab a window under cursor or execute theGrab now context menu command.

To capture an active window press the <Capture Active Window> hotkey (default is Ctrl+Shift+A).

Capture of Scrolling Windows

  1. Click Capture with scrolling button, located on the Capture Bar or click the Capture | Automatic Scroll menu command.
  2. Point out the window to grab and click the left mouse button. The selected window will be scrolled and captured automatically.

You can stop this process at any time by clicking the Stop button of the Cancel Dialog box.

Capture Menu

  1. Display a menu.
  2. Place the mouse cursor over it.
  3. Press the <Capture Menu> hotkey (default is Ctrl+Shift+M).

Warning: Don't place the mouse cursor over the menu bar. It results to the wrong capture.

Use the Options | Preferences | Main page to adjust the menu options.

Capture Cursor

Press the <Capture Cursor> hotkey (default is F11) when the cursor is visible.

Capture Color

  1. Click Color Capture button or click the Capture | Color or press the <Capture Color> hotkey (default is Ctrl+Shift+C).
  2. Move the mouse cross-hair cursor to the specified point.
  3. Click the left mouse button.

The selected color is copied to the Clipboard as a hexadecimal text string.
Use standard Paste command to paste it into the text document.

Repeat the last capture

Repeating the last capture means that you capture a previously selected region again.
To repeat the last capture press Repeat Capture button or press the <Repeat Capture> hotkey.

Edit an image

To edit an image located into the working area you can use both the buit-in and external image editors.
Click Built-in Editor button to invoke the built-in image editor.
Click External Editor button to invoke an external editor.
Use Options | Preferences | Other page to setup an external editor.

Record a screen activity

  1. Click button and select a region to record.
  2. Click the Start... conext menu command to start the recording.
  3. Click the Red button to stop the recording.

It is also possible to use the hotkey to Start/Stop a recording.
If you don't specify the Video Path at Options | Timer/Video dialog, Mr. Captor will ask you a path to save a video. You can also play a video immediately after the recording is completed.

Extract images from EXE,DLL,SCR,OCX files

  1. Click the File | Extract from EXE, DLL menu command,
  2. Select a file to extract from.
  3. Select an image and press the Extract button.
